Il Root è una delle operazioni più comuni per gli utenti più smanettoni su Android. Ci sono tantissimi metodi per eseguire queste operazioni e ogni telefono offre opzioni e strumenti differenti. Grazie ad uno sviluppatore di XDA, arriva un nuovo programma che promette di sbloccare tutti i device con Android 2.3.x Gingerbread e anche alcuni device Froyo e Honeycomb: GingerBreak.

GingerBreak è molto semplice: basta installarlo ed eseguirlo e dopo circa un minuto avrete il vostro terminale con root grazie ad un exploit che viene utilizzato per ottenere questi permessi. GingerBreak è ancora in evoluzione e in poche ore siamo passati dalla release 1 alla 1.10 e non è da escludere che aggiornamenti arriveranno ancora.

Alcuni utenti hanno lamentato un reset del telefono con conseguente perdita di dati. Vi consigliamo di fare quindi un backup prima di qualsiasi prova.

What the APK and exploit do is as follows:

• – The APK puts the right files in the right place to run the exploit
• – The APK runs the exploit
• – The exploit attempts to attain root access
• – If it succeeds, the exploit remounts /system as read-write and runs the installer script
• – The installer script attempts to install the su binary and superuser APK, and reboots

Some important things to know:

• – You must have USB debugging enabled on your device
• – You need to have an SD card (formatted and) inserted
• – The APK must be install to device, NOT SD card
• – The exploit may take a while to run, but not more than 10 minutes, if it does, get me a logcat, and reboot the device. In rare occasions, even if the device does not reboot, you may still have root. So check that out after you manually pull battery after 15 minutes or so of being stuck.
• – Always reboot between root attempts!
• – While (temporary?) root access may be attained, due to locked bootloaders, efuses, S-ON, and whatnot this may still not work on your device
• – The GingerBreak exploit should not be used to attain temproot and continue using the device. It fscks vold, you do not want to be running like that. You want to reboot! So if the root doesn’t stick, you (still) have a problem.

Installazione:

• Assicurarsi che il debug USB sia abilitata
• Assicurarsi di avere una scheda SD (formattata e) inserita
• Prendete l’APK e installatelo sul telefono (con un fila manager)
• Aprire la APK e premete su root
• Attendere qualche minuto. Se non ci sono problemi, il dispositivo si riavvierà (si noti che la stessa può richiedere il riavvio come 10 minuti a causa di cancellare cache)
• Assicurarsi che l’applicazione sia Superuser installare e funzioni
